Meet the Sisters
Savannah and Kyra (no longer Brown) are nearly Irish twins born, raised, and living in North Texas. They grew up playing competitive soccer and giving their younger brother, Gavin (the other Third), a hard time and the occasional wedgie.
Savannah Gardner
Savannah went to Dallas Baptist University to pursue soccer but left ready to be a teacher with a degree in Secondary English Education. After college, she went on to be a high school English teacher in Dallas ISD for five years- some of the most fun she’s ever had. While teaching, she married Austin, coached volleyball, completed her Master’s Degree in Literacy Curriculum and Instruction, and got pregnant! Now, she is an official stay at home mama.
“My journey into the ‘lower-tox’ community began with food as I battled chronic digestive issues in my adolescence, but it truly flourished when I became pregnant. They casually tell you to avoid fragrances, deli meats, and other random things when you are pregnant, but they do not explain why. I found myself downloading countless app scanners and spending way too much time on grocery store aisles reading ingredient lists for shampoos, lotions, supplements and more. I was shocked to find how many products claimed to be “clean” yet had warnings for pregnant women or even contained ingredients that would prohibit them from being sold in other countries to any consumer.
When my daughter was born, I had to maintain a dairy and soy free diet because of her intolerance. As my concern doubled, my knowledge tripled as I researched and realized how mindlessly we shop. Thankfully, I had my sister that provided me with alternatives to try that were wholly better and the same price, or cheaper, than what I usually bought at Sephora or Target. I love a good night of tex-mex, game day food in front of the tv, and the smell of Banana Boat sunscreen, but I have found that I do not need to sacrifice living to provide a cleaner home for my family!”
Kyra Alexander
Kyra, the middle child, went to Texas State University where she achieved a degree in Pre-Physical Therapy. Her undergraduate degree combined with countless physical therapy tech hours in multiple clinics launched her into the prestigious UT Southwestern Physical Therapy School. Shortly into her doctorate program, Kyra started to pursue her own studies into holistic medicine and food. Kyra found interest in bettering her life through food, medicine, and the daily products she used, and joined her now husband, Wick, in an effort to build a life free of toxins and cheap shortcuts.
“My journey to a more ancestral way of living all began in my tiny box apartment in Dallas, TX. I began deep diving into the ancestral food movement with a focus on where my food was sourced. It was truly eye-opening, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that I needed to be a part of it. I began driving hours to pick up raw milk from a farm, using lard and tallow as my only skincare products, sourcing grass-fed beef and farm-raised eggs, and becoming disgusted by the term "seed oils."
Side note: I’ve always been the girl who ate kale, skinless chicken breasts, and drank green juice, but nothing changed my life and health more than eating this way and knowing how my food was raised and grown. My now-husband and I both fell in love with the idea of raising our own animals and being part of this regenerative farming movement. Long story short, we got married, bought a milk cow on our honeymoon, and headed out to the country. A year later, we have 30 chickens and some pigs as well. I learned that it is a gorgeous, unforgiving journey and well worth it to raise a chick to a hen to have eggs on my breakfast plate.
I am passionate about knowing where my food comes from and knowing every ingredient that makes it into my home. I am curating a more holistic lifestyle. That being said, as my sister mentioned, I find it very important to enjoy life and love a full-blown Tex-Mex dinner—chips and margaritas from our local place—not striving for perfection, but simply for a better way and enjoying the journey.”
